A graduate of Howard University in Washington DC, Kalu brings over 15 years of experience in the private equity and single family office industries. In DC, he worked on the “Green The Block” grassroots initiative launched in August 2009 by the Obama Administration where he joined other community leaders in promoting clean energy, weatherization, and green job opportunities in urban and underserved neighborhoods.

With a foot in both the African American world and yet, with deep familial connections to his Igbo heritage, Kalu has remained passionate about finding ways to harness his financial knowledge to uplift both communities. After seeing the impact made in DC, Kalu accepted a position as a Senior Vice President at The Bronfman Investment Group LLC and Accretive LLC, where Kalu combined his passion for the environment with his financial background to help develop Edgar Bronfman Jr’s growth equity platform focusing on New Media & Entertainment , Clean Technology (Global Thermostat), Health Care and Consumer packaged goods. While at the Bronfman Investment Group, LLC, Kalu also took part in establishing a just under $1B fund to help African entrepreneurship.

During this time Kalu took in stronger leadership roles within NEXUS, an international, UN affiliated organization aimed at encouraging next-gen wealth holders to embrace a more responsible role in addressing the challenges identified by the UN’s Sustainable Development Goals where he became an active collaborator with the UN’s NEXUS Working Indigenous Issues Working Group, advocating for African indigenous voices, including personally helping to coordinate cultural exchanges alongside Native American leaders. It was there where he met Mary Ann Thompson-Frenk, leading to joining the board of The Memnosyne Institute where he proudly supports its GreenSourceTX.org program and Oak Cliff Earth Day community festival. After further discovering they shared values and beliefs that Social Responsible Investing and Conscious Capitalism are important tools to addressing world challenges, Kalu invited Mary Ann to co-found the Dallas based Investment management firm , UTF Holdings Llc, a values inspired investment model that considers investment impact on people, the planet and profit, seeking to support the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals. Today their investments span from energy to development projects to entertainment to much more.

This has led Kalu to be a sought-after speaker for events such as addressing the “Science and Innovation Priorities as they pertain to Green Futures: Innovation and Indigenous Economic Systems Change” at the ” United Nations 4th International Conference on Financing for Development (FfD4)” in 2025 and at the 2026 Unicorn Summit on the topic of “Harnessing the Power of For-Profit Leadership For Positive Impact”.

Kalu is also a trusted advisor in the arts industry, representing the estate of critically acclaimed portrait artist Iké Udé as the Studio head of Iké Udé Studio Inc. who is currently the lead consultant of The MET Costume Institute’s spring exhibition, “Superfine; Tailoring Black Style”. Kalu is The Executive Producer of The Nollywood Portraits Project, helping to finance museum exhibitions at the Museum of Contemporary Photography (Chicago), Arles Photo Festival , The Smithsonian Museum for African Art, MoCP Houston and The Metropolitan Museums Costume Institute. His work in the arts earned him recognition among the “2025 Copeel Global Entrepreneurship Summit & Awards 100 Most Influential Entrepreneurs and Global Business Leaders Awards” in the category of “Excellence In Arts and Global Leadership”.

Kalu continues to be a sought after advisor, working with business leaders such as Terry Waya and Cain Contee as well as serving on the Finance Committee of the Dallas Museum of Art and yet remains equally passionate about utilizing his financial knowledge to uplift communities worldwide.
